Next Gen Pastor
Hello everyone! My name is Russ Brown. I am 37-years-old and am from Commerce, GA. I am very happily married to my high school sweetheart, Loren, and we have 5 wonderful children: Boston, Jackson, Mason, Brooklyn, and Kenlyn. I hold a B.A. in Christian Ministries with a specialization in Youth Ministry from Emmanuel College, Middle Grades Education Certification from Piedmont College, and a M.A. in Human Services Marriage and Family Counseling from Liberty University. I am certified in grades 4-8 to teach reading, science, and social studies in the state of Georgia, and taught reading and social studies at Commerce Middle School for 13 years. I am also certified in school counseling, and served as the school counselor at Commerce Middle School for 2 years. During my time as a teacher and school counselor, I coached football, wrestling, golf, and weight training at various times at both Commerce Middle School and Commerce High School, and served as the school representative for the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA). I am a licensed and ordained minister in the state of Georgia, and have served in vocational ministry for over 18 years.
During this time, I have served in bi-vocational ministerial roles as the Middle School Youth Pastor and Youth Worship Leader at Mount Olive Baptist Church in Commerce, GA, and Youth Pastor and Choir Director at Tates Creek Baptist Church in Toccoa, GA. I am currently serving full-time as the Next Generation Pastor and Middle School and High School Administrator at The Grove. I also serve on the Board of Directors for the Greater Hall County Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
I was extremely fortunate to be raised in a family who loves the Lord and always attended church faithfully. I accepted Jesus Christ as my Lord and Savior on April 29, 1990 during an old-fashioned revival service at Tates Creek Baptist Church. Although I was only eight-years-old at the time, I understood and believed that God loved me and had sent his Son to die for me. I also understood that I did not want to spend eternity in hell, but in heaven with God, Jesus, and the rest of my family. Since that day, God has been working in and through my life and using me to share the Gospel, make disciples, and bring honor and glory to His name. The Lord called me into vocational ministry in June of 2000, and I have been pursuing the call and serving in ministry since that time. While I am not perfect, and make mistakes every day, God is faithful. I am confident that He who began a good work in me all those years ago will bring it to completion at the day of Christ’s return. I look forward to serving you and your family at The Grove.
